HKFC C Vs HKCC A
Result: Win, 2-1

Not sure if it was the mid week match we drew against Vets that got us all fired up, or it was the mystic power of 11.11.11 from the previous day, the Cs were all pumped, full on and playing fantastic the first 10 minutes. With the addition of Christina and Rachel, our squad looked stronger than ever. We were battling HKCC for the ball, turning over their defense quickly, fast breaks, switching the ball around and action was almost entirely in the attacking half.

 

The Cs had a few promising chances and short corners, but we slowed down our pace and aggression often hitting the balls back at the defenders unknowingly. Although we did not convert any goals, we were looking confident and demonstrated great teamwork. Our mighty defense line with Yeng, Ellie, Laura, Christina and Nina were simply too good for HKCC to even get a shot at the goal.

 

Half time, Chappie gave us some words of wisdom before dashing off to King's Park and said he expected no fewer than 2 goals from us. We started off second half with relentless and forceful mid field play with Joss, Lyric, Rosie, Katy displaying great stick work and tackles on the strong stick side, feeding the ball to left, right, and center up the D. Flo had a chance sweeping the ball into the far right of the goal, which got deflected by the goalkeeper, picked up by Maya and struck in by Jocelyn! It was quick and slick! 

 

We continued to push forward, and conceived another goal with an amazing dive from Jocelyn at lightning speed (again!!!)! It was intense. And did we mention Rachel, who magnificently carried the ball from 25 yards down to baseline, solo against defenders and squeezed in two great attempts!

 

HKCC struck back shortly afterwards, taking full advantage of a penalty corner and scored. But that wasn't enough to change their fate.

 

We sealed the deal with a 2-1 win and lived up to Chappie's expectation. Our first, and definitely more to come.
