Ladies F 4-0 Valley D - "EAT THAT"!

16 January 2010

Match Report

Foxes 4 - Valley D 0

FOXY LADIES DO IT AGAIN - CLEAN SWEEP FOR ROUND ONE!

Well well well what a run we have had so far this season, still unbeaten whoop whoop.  It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon at the stadium and with some important spectators the pressure was on as we took on our big club rivals - THE VALLEY!  We had an idea that we might be able to beat Valley but didn't want to be too cocky after last weeks game.  The game started well, they had no goaly (although appeared to have hundreds of subs!), but an extra outfield player which can be tricky but we quickly started applying pressure.  When a penalty got awarded early in the second half we were all a bit unsure what to do - we're the F team - we have no idea what to do with a penalty! Its normally something we only get to watch from the sidelines!  Good old Rhona stepped up to the mark and performed well under pressure giving us an early lead. First goal from our sweeper -TEQUILA!!!!!!!

We went from strength to strength with the forwards having lots of chances and it not really getting into their half, thanks to our MVP Ellen. Ellen you really do have to get more sleep on a friday night as you were blooming marvelous! Gen was great upfront scoring two more goals in the first half, love the celebration by the way Gen!  Valley were still talking about our goal celebrations after the match??! HA! Sore losers anyone????? Nahh....... Anyway, clearly, the opposition were so scared that they a goalie mysteriously appeared at some stage.  Supersubs Mairi and Sarah had a run on - both coming within inches of scoring! Oh, and my highlight of playing Hockey so far has to be Mairi running down the sideline looking like Jaws out of a James Bond Film.  Angry and with a very big mouth guard!! Hilarious. Cannot wait for Mairis first goal as she has promised to run straight off the pitch to the bar for a tequila and be back in time for the whistle!!!

The second half started well and Nia has a stormer scoring from a short corner and giving us a more comfortable lead.  Again we rotated players well and everyone was keen to have a go at new positions - big thanks to everyone who covered central midfield.  We were all happy when the whistle blew and we could enjoy the afternoon sunshine knowing we have played a good game and had a really good win.  EAT THAT VALLEY!

Well done ladies and lets dedicate this win to our lovely Captain Helen who we missed on the pitch, but loved the support on the side lines.

By Sarah (surely about to score in my next match) Green
