HKFC DINOS VS HKCC B

DINOS were back to their usual antics – game started at 2pm but we still had missing players and more importantly a missing goalie. Jessica Morrison arrived at the Valley and got her gear on in record time.

 

The game started well. DINOS had most of the possession and we pressured their goal early on. Vangie scored the first goal with a slap shot. Di May did think about stopping it but instead lifted her legs and the ball made it into the goal! The second goal came minutes later from a short corner Dani hit, it was a cracker of a shot that the goalie lost her glove and stick while attempting to stop it.

 

DINOS started to feel very confident now and let down our guard a bit. HKCC had some speedy young legs out there and they managed to get a goal just before the half time whistle. Score at half time 2-1

 

Half time DINOS made a call to water the very dry pitch. The sprinklers came on and seemed to go on forever. The game had to be shortened – was this part of our team tactics?

 

Start of the 2^nd half was slow and the pitch was now very wet but feet and ball, did move a lot better. HKCC scored very early on to draw level 2-2. DINOS were a little shocked to see themselves now tied and the game picked up a notch. Di May was instrumental – voicing out that we were not to lose this game!

 

Instead of allowing them to use their fitness against us the defense Paula Wymond, Brenda Smith and Birthday girl Val Potts stepped up their game distributing some beauties to their forward players.

 

Pat and Mel had some lovely runs into the attacking third to set up some great moves. Carol had good runs on the right wing and fooled her opposition to make great passes into the circle. Lucy was her usual self, defending and attacking both ends of the pitch. Taking some awesome shots at goal too.

 

Final score was 5-2. With a goal of the season(if I may say so myself), a reverse stick into the top right hand corner of the goal. More notably though was how the DINOS were able to come back and take this victory – we still have it BABES!!
