Sat, 30 Jan HKFC G 0 : 2 LHT, 5 pm at Club
It was a disappointing loss to LHT as it was supposed to be a fairly straightforward game. The Gs put on great pressure to start the game off well. LHT were without a goalie so the Gs were optimistic of getting on the scoreboard early. There were some good chances in the D but they were either deflected or saw the ball going inches wide of the post. As the first half wore on, the Gs found themselves backing into their own half and had little success clearing the ball out of the 23 m. Lisa Davies made some tremendous saves in goal to keep the team in the game. However, LHT did manage to get one past the G defense by capitalising on a sloppy clear of a 16 yard hit to get up 1:0. The girls didn't let up though and put it to LHT. Ffiona Coalter and Jo O'Connor both played amazing hockey in midfield and are fast becoming quite the skilled players. Terri O'Kelley tried playing up front for the first time and is finding her groove as well. And always with terrific support from the bleachers. The game also saw the (rather premature) return of Winnie Leung, who stepped in at last minute's notice as a couple of players pulled out, after being out since November. Sat was a good opportunity to practice some of the new moves learnt at training the week past. The team is coming together well and is gaining more confidence as the season progresses. Next up...table-toppers, Skyers A...should be an interesting one.
