Sat, 6 Feb 6:30pm @ HV1 (HKFC G 0:1 Skyers A)
Saturday saw the ladies G team take on division leaders Skyers A. At our previous meeting, they delivered a 5:0 thrashing. The Gs were looking to narrow that gap this time around. There was some success in a bittersweet Victory 1:0 loss. The team managed to pinch out their offence and their frustration was clearly visible especially as the second half progressed. Aside from the one early goal they got off of a free hit awarded just outside the D, their chances at goal were limited by great defensive hockey. Congratulations to our Courageous Captain Parminder Grewal , our Teamplayer of the Match, who stepped in as Goalie. Parminder killed off any further attempts at Skyers scoring, an obvious upset to Skyers, well done Parm.
Christina Lum and Teresa Littlewood had a stellar game blocking shots and clearing the ball out to the sidelines. Terri O'Kelley and Mary Williams, as usual, were workhorses wrecking and ravaging Skyers' manoeuvres through midfield and defense. Fiona Tom and Jo O'Connor with their strong defense pushing Skyers again and again, giving everything they've got for the team.
For a game that was expected to be more on the defensive end, the Gs put in a great effort up front weaving through the Skyers defence (their Achilles heel quite possibly? or did they, rather naively, underestimate their opponents?) and created quite a few good scoring chances.
