Match Report: HKFC D vs Elite A 0-2
MVP: Captain Claire
If I were the gambling type, I would lay some money down that the Ds will score another win before the season is over for the following reasons:
a) We constantly show that we are as good if not better than a lot of the teams we come up against, it really is just a matter of time (& a bit of luck in the D!). Despite not having a lot of chances at goal in the first half of Saturday's match, we definitely had majority of possession & out played & out ran the Elite A team. Their short corner goal on the first half whistle was an example of that bit of luck we didn't have this time.
b) While still short on players we have some great new additions to the team who will compliment the original Ds. We really looked like a team out there on Saturday despite a third of the girls never having played together before. There were quite a few changes in positions, short corners, coaches & tactics but we managed & took it in our stride. We do have a great team both on the field & off & I really think that shows.
c) We do not & will not give up. Speaking for myself, I've not left a game yet where I feel disappointed or negative about our performance. Certainly it's a little frustrating to not get the win but when the performance is that good against the calibre of teams we have been put up against it really is just a matter of hanging in there. Despite being 2-0 down on the weekend we stayed fierce & kept our momentum going right up to the final whistle. Even Simon Bach had positive things to say about us (nice to hear, thanks for your time Simon!).
In summary:
Hang in there
Stay fierce
Turn up to training
And make the next 4 matches count!
