HKFC DINOS (HKFC E) VS AQUILA A

A top of the table clash between the young and fast ex-HKU students and the determined Dino’s. Dino’s were ready for a tense game as they went into the game to take the top spot in Division 2. However having lost a number of key players the team was not sure how they would do but were happy to have Brenda, Karen and Pat fly in from all over the globe and Sarah Wymond take a break from revision to strengthen the numbers.

The game started well and Dino’s mesmerized the opposition with the pace of the game. Then the DINOS “Tiger” in the tank came out to play and the girls had most of the possession resulting in a goal from Vangie after she dribbled through a minefield of their players. After a period of immense pressure from Aquila the second goal came from a short corner when Mel hit a cracker of a shot. Only 17 to go she was heard saying as she closed in on Vangie’s 20.

Inevitably Aquila scored their one an only goal at the end of the first half after a sneaky attack down the right.

After a Chappies half time chat in which he mentioned “girlie hits” and “slow pace” the Dino’s were roaring to go. The roaring was somewhat muted once those young Aquila legs started to bombard us again.  BUT the gods were looking after us on Saturday because somehow after hitting the post at least twice, having at least one ball stopped on the line by Val and heaps of shots saved by our Jess they failed to convert another goal.

Anyway we were not kept down so easily and after a magnificent pass sent through from Mel to Vangie another goal resulted and the final score remained at 3 – 1 to Dino’s.

What a magnificent win ladies and everyone received the MVP: Jess, Mary, Heather, Brenda, Val, Pat, Liz, Karen, Lisa, Lucy, Mel, Sandy, Vangie, Sarah. Special mentions to Jess and Brenda for their stirling work at the back. And to Karen who in the line of duty got caught up in an opposition stick and fell to the ground injuring her knee. Get that leg fit Karen so that we can have you back in action.
