Mens C 4 - 1 Dutch A

11 April 2010

 HKFC C 4 – Dutch A 0.

Since we cannot win the league and we cannot be relegated, we were able to go into yesterdays game with no pressure.   We played our game of hockey and thoroughly deserved the win..   Dutch would have been favourite yesterday but like KCC game we were able to pull together as a team and work towards a really strong finish for the season.

The first half was fast and energy zapping in the humidity.   Both teams attacked down the wings.   We held them well in the defense and came back to score 2 goals by Steve Bruce & 1 by Truman in the first half.

We were expecting Dutch to start the second half with some real pressure but we stayed composed and absorbed it well.   Then we attacked well on the break.   When Truman picked up the ball top of D and flicked over the keeper for the 4th goal everyone knew it was over.   Late in second half we strung almost 30 passes together with almost no pressure from Dutch - this must have been the most frustrating thing ever for a team 4 goals behind.   Very enjoyable.

Post match at Sportsmans...    Champagne / Beer / Tequila, in no particular order and at times mixed.

Reserve the date – 21st April for Toms farewell party.
