Womens D 0 - 3 Dutch A

17 April 2010

 Match Report 17/4/2010 HKFC D (0) vs Dutch A (3)

As the Dutch Players walked on to the pitch, towering over team with the
average height of less than 5'5'', we knew it was going to be a tough
game. The game took off with speed and even with their hard hits and
rough elbowing, we seemed to be keeping up quite well. They had a few
short corners on us. (two of which were goals) but we had more attacking
ones. There was a streak in their D where we had short corner after
short corner, a few long corners and free hits from their dotted line,
but unfortunately did not seem to score any of the goals.

Aiko went on the pitch fully charged despite a nose injury, and Anna
seems to be collecting bruises this week. But we did not let the 2-0
score at half time get to us (nor Simon Bach's very encouraging pep
talk) and got on once again for a stronger half as this was the game
that would decide our position next year in either div 1 or 2, we
managed to not let the score get to us a played very good hockey.

Ida saved a very hard shot on goal, and the defence worked hard on
marking the dutch forwards. Apart from the fact that we a had a few
shots on goal I really could not see what is happening in the other D,
standing on the other side of the pitch. All I can say is that all of us
put all our effort in the game, and really went for it and made very
good passes and tackles, it was a really good finish to the season even
though we lost the game. Thanks to Claire for captaining us this season!

The knockout cup will be a fresh start and over the season, our team has
really refined our skills and communications between players. And we
should ALL turn up to training on tuesday as we have a game against CDR
A, only one of the best teams in hk, next Sat!
