HKFC G 1:5 WS Jasmine @ HKFC

Having come off the game of the year the previous week and this being the last game of the season, the Goddesses were looking forward to a win. However, having lost 4:1 to the HK under-14s the last time we met, we knew this wasn't going to be a walk in the park. The game started off with quite a bang with the nifty-skilled Terri O'Kelley putting the Gs on the scoreboard first with a sneaky tap-in for goal. The exaltation post-goal and the fast-pace of the Jasmine's led to some nervous defence in the D, having been caught off-guard, which led to successive penalty corners. The Jasmine's soon tied the game with a cracker of a hit angled to perfection off a penalty corner taken from the top of the circle. Failure to angle out the handful of very skillful teenagers on the Jasmine's offence led to a plethora of goals on either side of the break. With Simon and Rob's strategy talk and rah-rah'ing at half-time, the Goddesses took to the field to salvage the game with the same diamond formation that had worked so well the week prior. However, a great game was not in the books for the Goddesses this week. The frustration and disappointment was short lived as over post-game drinks at the Sportsman's, the consensus was that the grudge match versus the Fs was more akin to the real Goddesses style of play and hence a more apropos albeit unofficial end to the regular season. Will definitely be showcasing more of it next season, no doubt!

To sum up the season, there were flashes of brilliance along with the-sooner-forgotten-the-better performances interspersed throughout the season. The new additions to the team have brought new character to the team while the regulars have let their composure and experience speak for itself when under pressure. Going forward the team will climb to new heights having found a division that more appropriately reflects their skill and determination.
