Womens E 0 - 4 Shaheen A

24 April 2010
HKFC E v Shaheen A

HKFC 1700 hours          0 - 4  LOSS

What a great game by Dino’s. Although we didn’t score we held Shaheen A to 0 – 1 until 15 minutes to go. This team had recently held HKFC A and KCC A to 0 – 0 draws!

Dino’s entered the game completely psyched – up with a superb game plan. Stay behind the ball and break through when we can. The pre-match talk included Vangie recounting her nickname from school much to the amusement of the umpire who understood Malay. The game continued from here.

Shaheen’s first goal I have to say was superb. We’re not sure that the scorer expected to deflect it into the goal with such expertise but it was a corker. Shaheen tried to keep the pressure on with Kitty thundering balls through to her attack but we had some good bursts from Sandy, Di and Vangie which got them worried.

Our defence held firm which was somewhat frustrating for the opposition. Su, Brenda, Heather and Val were formidable at the back making crucial tackles when they were needed. Jess, well what can we say, she was a star and her class showed through particularly when one-on one with Snowy she showed her where to her go and kicked the ball out of sight. Mel, Lucy and Liz (Val in the second half) ran their legs off midfield blocking their attack relentlessly and wave after wave. Fortunately Legs Cunningham was on hand to come onto the pitch to relieve forwards and midfield players and she ran the opposition’s socks off with her challenges from all angles.

A well contested game that brought out the Dino competitiveness in all players on the pitch. The wheels came off a bit during the last 15 minutes when Shaheen scored three goals a couple of which came off dubious umpiring decisions to which they were quicker to react. A true Dino performance ably supported by Carol and Mary and our supporters that included the knee trio Dani, Cath and Paula and Dino friend Su Thornley.

Player of the match: Everyone, but Jess Morrison got the doll for playing a stormer and looking so good in her sporty ¾ pants that are part of her new collection.
