Sunday 29th Jan HKFC E vs Shaheen B L1-2
The captain said the match report can be "long or short" so the long and the short of it was we lost 2-1.
Not however without a tremendous fight which I will summarize as follows in reverse order...
Not a bad result given Shaheen are top of the league but disappointing given the position at half time - roll on the next game!
Collective shout of "oh ****" after a huge effort from every Club player.
Final whistle blew.
Short corner shot missed by a hares breadth (about 6ins actually)
Umpires consult - long deliberation - short corner! Much questioning of umpires eyesight, parentage etc - 45 seconds on the clock...
Whistle blows - ball stuck under goalies pads with no attempt to clear - attackers jabbing frantically at ball, defenders jabbing frantically at attackers...surely a penalty??
Across from left to the right, into the zone, shot on goal...
Good periods of pressure by Club leading to a final attack in the last minute
Second goal against run of play (have blanked what happened)
Fight back - Greg Lee unlucky not to have got a shortie possibly two
Run of 5-6 short corners against all bravely defended (some even legally)
Shaheen make break through with early goal much against Captains game plan
Club out fast and determined following stirring team talk from Captain and tactics from Coach Chapman plus warning about argy bargy from umpires
Half time and much needed break
End of first half with first part of Captains cunning plan complete I.e having more goals than the opposition at half time.
Fast and furious attacks down both flanks and counter attacks well covered by our midfield and defense.
Goal! All going according to plan.
Chappie aerial finds Greg down the left, brilliantly controlled despite pressure from the corner flag, reverse stick cross into the path of a flying Gus whose stick work bamboozles their goalie into allowing the ball to somehow trickle over the line.
Early pressure from some excellent constructive passing results in series of good attacking moves leading to...
Captain's team talk pre-push back was along the lines of "done them before, can do them again" and "let's get an early goal..."
