HKFC D Vs Vets A 2-0

Well, it was great to get back on the champagne trail as I like to call it last night. I know it was not always the prettiest hockey (we had patches of 'champagne hockey' and 'not so champagne hockey'), mainly in the dying stages as we suddenly had to do a lot of defending with a flurry attacking activity by them and too many short corners for our liking, but 2-0 is still a nice victory. We broke the 1-0 score card, our usual tried and tested winning score. What's more we did as was asked by coach Bach, attacking with force and scoring off a short corner within the first 10 minutes. Thank you Claire! There were high fives by myself & Gen on the sidelines as we said this one was going to be the one, the stats had to be with us for a score off a short, and finally they were. Nice strike! Then, soon after the commencement of the second half, our captain, delivered our second goal. She stepped up to the spot and cool, calm and collected hit it into the left corner with aplomb. Thank you Leela! Coach Bach had barely been able to watch but was rewarded. We were awarded a penalty (a rarity in the women's game) as a result of a short corner when it struck a Vet's defender's foot on the line. Aisling and Elaina playing on the left deservedly received special mention from coach Bach as MVPs. And hey thanks Polly for the great saves.
